About MSC & Our Mission

is an extension of the Taoist Tribe, a 501c3 non profit theological and educational organization. Through interactive Q&A broadcasting, empowering conferences and discussions, it is MSC's mission to create an environment that can shape and direct ideas into fruition. A key component of it all is face to face interaction in our community lounge, intended for gathering, studying, lounging and engaging in meaningful dialogue.

MSC also is designed to nurture the individual's creativity though self development and meditation. Our float facility will help individuals focus within and relax mind and body. Philosophers in ancient times would travel 100's of miles to interact with people who were seeking answers and would dive in deep to their creative spirit. In today's society we are constantly on the go, never have time to self reflect and share the experiences we have with others face to face .MSC is there to set the environment and provide the tools for seekers to find their Tao (Way!) It many ways, MSC is reminiscent of the ancient temples like the Temple of Delphi whose motto noted - "Know Thyself".

We strongly believe that each individual has something special to offer society, but the individual first must know himself or herself. As Lao Tzu's noted " Those who know others are wise. Those who know themselves are enlightened" It is said that the highest essence of truth is used for examining one’s own mind and body, (Chuang Tzu). As a social enterprise, we have created this non profit to support this idea and bring it to fruition.

There are many other great reasons why Modern Social Center (MSC) had to be born, but perhaps the most important one is the most obvious one - we, humans, are social creatures, and, as such, have a need for human connection and social significance. One may argue that digital age has connected us to the world, and this is true, however, information overload has done little for us in terms of social aptitude. Ask yourself, do you know at least 5 of your neighbors personally? Have you shared your knowledge and ideas and listened to theirs lately? Have you noticed the only time this seems to happen is when the lights go out in your neighborhood and this creates opportunity for conversation other than the bland hi/bye?

More and more we are finding out that its our environment that shapes us, down to our very cells. With the digital age booming as it has, why do more and more people feel even more isolated? Behind a computer screen connection seems to be there, but it's a realm of 1 an 0's in a cloud so to speak. Genuine dialogue is missing.

As a project of the Taoist Tribe, a 501c3 non-profit organization, MSC brings you a social center to serve this very purpose - to re-connect the community and in turn, reconnect each of us with our own selves. With activities centered around these ideas, concepts & philosophies, MSC offers floating, martial arts, yoga, meditation and more. The second part of MSC's mission is pro-bono public service. Designed to operate as a self supporting center, MSC will provide public service programs including grant based offerings, social outreach programs and veteran support programs, to name a few .
